The Infrastructure and Utilities Development Committee (IUDC) VIII convened its 2nd Quarter Meeting for 2016 on June 16, 2016 at the Felipina Hall, NEDA VIII, Palo, Leyte.

The meeting was presided over by RDC VIII-IUDC Vice-Chair PSR Tiburcio Morales, Jr. of the Agribusiness/Cooperatives Sector. It was participated in by forty-nine (49) members coming from the regional line agencies, local government units, private sector representatives, and resource persons.

In said meeting, the Committee discussed and endorsed the following Tacloban North Resettlement Areas Infrastructure Concerns: (a) Tacloban North Integrated Development Plan – Roads and Drainage; (b) Proposal for Power Supply in Tacloban North; and (c) the Proposed Medium Term Water Supply Project.

In addition, the Committee endorsed to the RDC VIII the Project Proposal on Better Life for Out-of-School Girls in Tacloban City to Fight Against Poverty and Injustice, to be funded by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and to be implemented by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Jakarta, as well as the Request for Resettlement Assistance of Capoocan, Dulag, Villaba, and Leyte, Leyte to the National Housing Authority (NHA).

Towards the end of the meeting, NEDA VIII awarded a Plaque of Recognition to Engr. Marc Pons, Volunteer of the Tacloban City Housing and Community Development Office, for his dedicated service in spearheading the formulation of the Tacloban City North Integrated Development Plan, a comprehensive strategy to transform isolated resettlement sites to an economically-viable and disaster-resilient metropolis.
