Consultants for the Metro Ormoc Sustainable Urban Infrastructure Development (SUID) Master Planning conducted a two-day training-workshop for the technical staff of NEDA Regional Office VIII and planning officials of the City of Ormoc on 14-15 August 2019 at the Ritz Tower de Leyte, Tacloban City.

The activity introduced the participants to the basic concepts and planning tools necessary in the formulation of a master plan and capacitated them on selected sectoral planning approaches.

Topics discussed during the activity include: 1) Urban and Land Use Planning; 2) Economic Analysis; 3) Financial Analysis; 4) GIS and Database Management; 5) Tourism Planning; and 6) Policy and Governance Analysis.

The training-workshop was the first of three (3) technical capability-building activities outlined in the terms of reference of the consultants in crafting the Ormoc City SUID Master Plan to facilitate technology transfer. Two (2) other capability-building activities are scheduled sometime in September 2019.

Meanwhile, the master planning team, composed of experts from the Engineering and Development Corporation of the Philippines (EDCOP), Pacific Rim Innovation and Management Exponents, Inc. (PRIMEX), and CEST, Inc., are currently in the middle of finalizing the pre-feasibility study for the Metro Ormoc master plan.
