The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) allocated Php 6,791,400.00 for the continued rehabilitation of the NEDA Regional Office (NRO) VIII Main Building.
The coverage of the rehabilitation project includes the following: (1) construction of a 0.20-meter-thick concrete two-way driveway which will be 180 meters in length; (2) removal of the waterproofing material at the roof deck and the replacement of which with a two-layer membrane, slab, and parapet with granite tiles for flooring; (3) exterior and interior repainting of the NRO VIII building; (4) installation of roll-up doors and windows; (5) and repair of the 2nd-floor parapet.
These projects will provide the much-needed structural repairs and maintenance works and shall equip the office with security and safety features with the fitting of roll-up windows and doors, in addition to the roll-up storm shutters installed last year. The two-way driveway or the perimeter path walk will also provide more recreational and parking space for NRO VIII staff, guests, and visitors. Meanwhile, the repainting of the NEDA VIII building shall additionally enhance the interior and exterior of the main building as well as its roof.
Funded also by the DPWH VIII, previous improvements to the NRO VIII building have been undertaken such as the installation of the fire detection and alarm system, fire sprinklers, and roll-up storm shutters late last year; Construction of an Accessible Facility for Physically Challenged Persons, and roofing of the PWD Ramp were also materialized.
The overall rehabilitation project will prove vital in conserving the functional capacity of the NRO VIII building and likewise ensure the safety of staff and visitors. It is expected to be completed on 14 July 2022.
