Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto M. Pernia visited Eastern Visayas on 11-13 February 2019 and attended the Meeting of the Regional Development Office (MNRDO), a quarterly gathering of NEDA regional directors, conducted on 12 February 2018 at The Oriental Leyte Hotel, Palo, Leyte.

During his visit, Secretary Pernia encouraged the close partnership of NEDA with one of its attached agencies – the Commission on Population and Development, particularly on planning and advocacy on population development program. He also highlighted the need to address the perennial problem on malnutrition which is high in Region VIII.

Secretary Pernia and the NEDA RDO team visited resettlement projects for Typhoon Yolanda survivors, namely: Pope Francis Village, Greendale Residences, and Villa Diana, and the
Leyte Road Heightening and Tide Embankment (RHTE) Project along the coastline of Tacloban City, Palo, and Tanuan, Leyte.
