The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Office VIII donated 70 pre-used tablets to Dampigan Elementary School (ES) in Sta. Rita, Samar on 17 May 2023.

NEDA VIII Regional Director (RD) Meylene C. Rosales, Assistant Regional Director (ARD) Atty. Jam M. Colas, OIC-Chief Administrative Officer Loretta M. Tanpiengco, and select NEDA VIII-Finance and Administrative Division staff led the turn-over of the tablets which were accepted by the Dampigan ES Principal Ernelete F. Baoy, elementary teachers, pupils, and witnessed by Dampigan Punong Barangay Erlette F. Mendoza.

In her opening message, Principal Baoy conveyed her appreciation to NEDA VIII for having chosen Dampigan ES as recipient of the said tablets. She said that this thoughtful and generous donation will largely benefit the pupils as they will get to experience digital learning. She expressed that in return, they will ensure that the tablets will be used properly and well taken care of.

RD Rosales likewise expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome of the teachers and pupils. She considered the donation as NEDA’s humble way of reaching out and helping the school address some of their needs. Moreover, she hoped that the tablets will enable the pupils get more information in this era of digital learning.

Dampigan ES has 214 pupils enrolled for School Year 2022-2023, with one section for each grade level. Principal Baoy stated that the tablets distributed across grade levels will be shared among the pupils during their interactive learning sessions.

The donated tablets will help pupils get access to a multitude of learning activities and educational tools, especially as the Eastern Visayas Regional Development Plan 2023-2028 promotes the adoption of digital modes of learning.
