NEDA Regional Office VIII kickstarted its celebration of the 2022 National Women’s Month in a virtual program held on 8 March 2022.

The program featured a discussion on gender mainstreaming in government service and an introduction to the 2022 NEDA Gender and Development (GAD) Plan. The former is timely as NEDA 8 will soon begin drafting the successor Eastern Visayas Regional Development Plan for 2023-2028 later this year.

Meanwhile, the 2022 NEDA VIII Gender and Development (GAD) Plan contains GAD-related activities for NEDA VIII this year to ensure that GAD-related issues are addressed and are mainstreamed in the office’s processes and activities.

A pledge wall for women was also launched during the program. NEDA 8 staff were invited to share their pledges throughout the month of March to make change work for women and empower them to become agents of development and change.

The program coincided with the International Women’s Day celebrated annually on 8 March. It was just the first in a series of activities to be conducted by NEDA VIII for the National Women’s Month Celebration this March.
