Lecturers from NEDA’s Legal Staff (LS) and Development Information Staff (DIS) conducted an orientation on the NEDA Data Privacy Guidelines for the staff of NEDA Regional Office (NRO) 8 on June 14, 2019.

Atty. Flora Serry Basquinez Samaniego, Atty. Alexandria Mendoza, Atty. Josephine Bailo of the LS and Mr. Jose Ryan Babon and Mr. Armando Santos of the DIS discussed the said guidelines of the agency. They went into the nitty gritty of the guidelines explaining the various mechanisms and requirements introduced to ensure the security of the data handled by the office.

This activity comes at the heels of the issuance of Office Circular No. 09-2018, also known as the NEDA Data Privacy Guidelines. The said circular institutionalizes the protection of sensitive personal information within the agency. Its aim is to ensure the compliance of NEDA to Republic Act No. 10173 or the “Data Privacy Act of 2012”.

The lecture is part of a national information drive by NEDA to educate and capacitate its staff and employees in the handling, processing and storage of sensitive information.
