Officials of the Regional Development Council (RDC) VIII – Sectoral Committees (SecComs) participated in a virtual orientation on the RDC VIII and parliamentary procedures on 14 July 2020.
The orientation covered the history, functions, structure, and standard operating procedures of the Council. It aimed to build upon the knowledge of the SecCom officials, built through years of participation in Council activities, to provide them a broader and more comprehensive view of the Council’s roles and functions in regional development.
Additionally, the activity served to make the SecCom officials appreciate better their roles and responsibilities in guiding their respective sectors in facing the challenges of regional development. This was highlighted by RDC VIII Acting Secretary and NEDA VIII OIC-Assistant Regional Director, Annielyn B. Costiniano in her opening message, “As the heads of the Sectoral Committees, you will no longer be concerned only with the affairs of a single agency, but of multiple agencies that comprise your respective sectors.”
The activity was the first in a series of orientation for RDC VIII members that will be conducted in the coming weeks in preparation for the SecCom meetings and the Full Council meeting this quarter.
