Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) VIII Regional Director Celerina T. Bato and Women Enablers Advocates and Volunteers for Empowering and Responsive Solutions (WEAVERS) President, Paulina L. Nayra were confirmed as the Chairperson and Co-Chairperson of the Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) during the Third Quarter 2020 RDC VIII Virtual Full Council Meeting on 04 August 2020.

As the heads of the RGADC, they shall lead the region’s efforts in mainstreaming gender and development in policies, programs, projects, and activities of both government and non-government entities and in recommending policy concerns and highlighting issues on gender and development to the RDC VIII.

The confirmation comes as the two were elected during the RGADC Virtual Meeting on 17 July 2020 through RGADC Resolution No. 11, Series of 2020 and subsequently approved for confirmation by the RDC VIII during its third quarter meeting.

They shall jointly head the Committee for the next two years in sync with the terms of the RDC officials.
