Seven (7) RDC VIII Private Sector Representatives (PSRs) represented the Eastern Visayas in the 6th Regional Development Council (RDC)-PSRs’ National Convention held last 14-16 October 2015 at the Limketkai Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.
The Region VIII PSR delegates were: Lolito T. Aures, MSMEs sector; Francisco P. Barredo, Banking sector; Atty. Roy Bernard C. Fiel, Business sector; Leo Christian V. Lauzon, Women/Youth/PWDs sector; Mario Ian N. Mosquisa, Environment sector; Tiburcio A. Morales, Jr., Agribusiness/Cooperative sector; and, Engr. Hermenegildo R. Serafica, Logistics sector.
Lanao del Norte Governor and RDC X Chairperson, Hon. Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo’s keynote message, which was delivered by NEDA X RD Leon M. Dacanay, underscored the need for public and private sector to join hands in transforming the country into a desirable market for tourism, trade and industry not only for the ASEAN market but in the world at large.
Centred on the theme “Enhancing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in the ASEAN Market”, presentations included, among others, the following: 1) Impact of ASEAN Integration and the Roles of Private Sector by DTI Assistant Secretary Ceferino S. Rodolfo; 2) Promoting Public-Private Partnership (Local and National Government ) by PPP Center Deputy Executive Director Eleazar E. Ricote; 3) Rocky Mountain Arabica Coffee (RMAC) Company and Benguet State University Partnership in Action by RMAC President Roberto Ansaldo; 4) Light Rail Transit Line 1 project Implementation by Atty. Philip I. Ranada; and, 5) The Impact of the ASEAN Integration on Tourism by DOT-Office of Tourism Standards and Regulations Director Maria C. Bueno.
The Convention was highlighted with the passage of a resolution endorsing a list of strategies and doable actions as priority agenda of the RDC PSRs along Project Identification, Selection and Prioritization, Capacity Development, Resource Mobilization/Fund Sourcing, Possible Enhancement/Amendment of Legal and Regulatory Frameworks on PPP and its Variant Modalities, Governance/Project Management, and other relevant PSRs’ commitments to strengthen their role in the RDC particularly in the implementation of the PPP.
In the closing program held at Del Monte Club House, RDC X turned over the hosting of the 2016 Convention to the Bicol Region (Region V).
