
The Regional Land Use Committee (RLUC) VIII confirmed the two private sector representatives (PSRs) for the term 2019-2021 during its second semester meeting on 22 October 2019 at the NEDA Regional Office VIII, Palo, Leyte.
Ms. Juvilyn V. Salazar and Mr. Judah S. Aliposa were unanimously confirmed by the body after a prescribed selection process following the end of the terms of the previous set of RLUC VIII PSRs in May 2019. The selection is pursuant to Executive Order No. 770, s. 2008 entitled, Amending Letter of Instruction (LOI) 1350 otherwise known as “Providing the Institutional Framework for National Physical Planning” which provides for the inclusion of two (2) land use planning experts from the private sector to the Committee.
Both PSRs have extensive professional experience in the field of land use and environmental planning. Ms. Salazar is a licensed environmental planner and is currently the project coordinator of the Leyte Sab-a Basin Forest Restoration Initiative Project of the International Institute of Rural Reconstruction-Regional Center for Asia. She has worked for the Foundation for the Philippine Environment, and was OIC-team leader of the Oxfam Haiyan Emergency Response Program and Tacloban Resettlement Integrated Program (Phase 1&2).
Meanwhile, Mr. Aliposa, the current manager of Wetlands International Philippines Program – Eastern Leyte, has been involved in various environmental planning programs and projects such as the Coastal and Marine Resource Management in the Coral Triangle-South East Asia (CTISEA Project) and Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development (BCSD) project.
