The Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) VIII held a meeting last March 31, 2016 at the RDC VIII Conference Room, NEDA Regional Office VIII, Government Center, Palo, Leyte.

The RPMC deliberated and endorsed seven (7) resolutions which include the following: i) Approving the CY 2016 List of Priority Programs/Projects to be Monitored by RPMC VIII; ii) Recommending to the RDC VIII the Adoption of the Findings and Recommendations of the RPMC 1st Quarter 2016 Field Monitoring Report; iii) Recommending to the RDC VIII to Request National Housing Authority (NHA) to Strictly Enforce the Contracts Between NHA and the Contractors for the Resettlement Sites; iv) Endorsing to the RDC VIII-Social Development Committee the Adoption of the Tacloban North Medium Term Water Supply Strategy Proposal; v) Recommending to the RDC VIII to Request NHA, DPWH, DOH and DENR to support the Waste Water Treatment Implementation in All Resettlement Sites; vi) Recommending to the RDC VIII to Request the NHA to provide 5,000 square-meter lot for the Proposed School Compound at the Resettlement Sites; and, vii) Recommending to the RDC VIII to Request the DPWH to Put-up Station Marker along Road Sections where ongoing/completed projects are inspected by the RPMC Team.

Other agreements emanating from the meeting are as follows: i) include the airport projects in the CY 2016 List of Priority Programs/Projects to be Monitored by RPMC VIII; ii) Secretariat to give copies to the PSRs on the project profiles and status, location maps and schedule of monitoring/inspection trips before each activity; iii) the secretariat to provide information on the road slope on the hilly section of the Baybay Diversion Road; iv) coordinate with the Social Development Committee (SDC) VIII secretariat the inclusion of Waste Water Management System in Tacloban North Resettlement Areas in the upcoming SDC VIII meeting in April 2016.

At the meeting, updates were also given by Mr. Melchor Palmares on Plan International Haiyan Project and USAID Rebuild Program by USAID Chief of Party Mr. William Mathopoullos.

RPMC Chair and NEDA Regional Office VIII Director Bonifacio G. Uy expressed his appreciation and commended the USAID and Plan International and local partners for their programs and unwavering support in the recovery efforts in Yolanda affected areas.

The meeting was attended by 46 participants representing 15 implementing agencies and 3 provincial planning and development offices (PPDOs) and 9 private sector representatives (PSRs).
