Director Meylene C. Rosales returned to Eastern Visayas as the Regional Director (RD) of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) VIII, with the retirement of former RD Atty. Bonifacio G. Uy earlier this month.

NEDA VIII officially welcomed RD Rosales during a face-to-face transition meeting on 20 June 2022 in Palo, Leyte. In the transition meeting, all divisions presented their major accomplishments, ongoing deliverables, and proposed solutions to identified bottlenecks for CY 2022. RD Rosales laid out her plans and expectations for the agency, including leveling up to meet current and emerging challenges. She also shared the best practices she gathered from Region VI during her time leading the NEDA Regional Office there, saying the same should be replicated in Region VIII.

The said meeting was the first full face-to-face activity conducted by the office since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020. The municipality of Palo, Leyte, where NEDA VIII is located, was recently placed under Alert Level 1 starting 16 June 2022 by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease.

Hailing from Tacloban City, RD Rosales first joined NEDA as an Economic Development Specialist I in 1992 and rose through the ranks until she became its Assistant Regional Director in 2018 and OIC-RD in 2019. She transferred to NEDA Western Visayas in 2020 where she was promoted to full Regional Director earlier this year.
